You Can Build Your Own Floating Wood Shelves

Is there are good reason why would someone be interested in Do It Yourself shelf when they could simply go to the neighboring hardware shop and obtain something ready made? Is building your own shelves the best right way to go?

Practically everything I’ve constructed has been a unique design in some way. One of our children wanted shelves above her bunk bed which would fit her Barbie dolls in a particular way. The end result was in her exact selection of colors, the accurate size she wished, and with the exact mix of cubes and open shelving. Finding that in a shop would have been mission impossible. This is why you could install oak white shelves with your own hands.

It’s much more affordable to assemble your own shelving. If I’m designing something ordinary, like a normal bookcase, I work the project around the proportions of a typical wood board and make sure that all pieces are cut down in such a way as to give me free wood for some other projects. when compared to cost of buying the same bookcase in the store, I invariably conserve quite a bit of cash.

And I don’t continuously have to buy new wood. One of my existing constructions is a storage space unit that fits about and over the toilet in the kids bathing room. I’m constructing it out of an old cabinet that a fellow citizen was throwing out. Including the hardware, the whole thing will run me approximately $13. Beat that if you can. And for a second time, this isn’t a typical project, it’s made to measure for particular dimensions and I simply couldn’t go to a store and pay money for something that would fit my dimensions perfectly.

As well as saving me money and saving a tree or two, I get a fantastic feeling of pleasure from doing my personal custom glass shelving and storage space constructions . I have a miniature woodworking room in a garden shed and I find it very relaxing to throw away an hour or two out there getting creative. It’s genuine quality time, and even the little one likes making use of real tools as an alternative to his toy set. The girls also gain knowledge of safety and responsibility, it’s a winwin situation for everyone!
