Which area in Kauai, HI do you recommend?

My husband and I are planning on having a belated wedding in Kauai, Hawaii. We want to have an intimate wedding ceremony for just the family members and close friends. Our plan is to rent a beach front house and do a ceremony there and go out for dinner at a local restaurant.

I have been to Hawaii but just to Oahu. We chose Kauai because we heard it is more laid back and not too touristy.
I want to ask Hawaii experts out there, which area in Kauai is most suitable for our situation. I would like to be closer to the airport so that it will not be too inconvenient for our families and friends. We also would like to be in the area where there is fun activities like water sports.
I was thinking of Poipu on South shore….Please give me your advice!

I’ve been to Kauai many times and Poipu is my favorite area. We usually stay at the Kahuna plantation. The Sheraton right next door is very nice too. Then they have a restaurant across the highway called Roys that is excellent. The Boat house restaurant is also very good. One thing real nice about Kauai is it is small enough to drive from one end to the other in a few hours. You can’t drive around the whole island though. Also many many movies are shot in Kauai because of the tropical feel, plus it doesn’t have high rises either. I will be going to Kauai next month, myself.

i think poipu would be good because it rains much less than in princeville/hanalei. it’s really lovely there, i think getting married in late afternoon would give you gorgeous light for your pictures. for a restaurant i highly recommend the beach house, it was the best meal i had in hawaii and a beautiful setting. congratulations
